The Margate Basketball League is currently running registration for residents and others ages 6-16 for games scheduled to begin in January. The games are normally taking place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with practices set to start in December.
Registration is being held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 31 through Nov. 4, at Firefighters Park, 2500 Rock Island Road in Margate. Signing up may be done in-person only, so each child can be measured for a uniform. No late registration will be taken this year.
A parent or guardian must accompany the child to sign a required code of ethics form, with the child’s birth certificate (if first time in league) and two forms of proof of residency on hand, which includes a parental driver’s license, utility bill, or mortgage bill.
Canned food items to be donated to those in need within the community are greatly appreciated.
Volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are also being sought for league play. Coaches must be available for the practices. No experience is necessary, as a coaching clinic is provided, but one must be 21 years old, or older, and pass a background check.
